Resources for Mental Wellbeing

For pastors in Australia, maintaining good mental health is increasingly a challenge. The demands of professional ministry can have an adverse impact on general wellbeing which can lead to burn-out and a premature end to work as a pastor. Sadly, this is an all too common story.

Keith Farmer and Peter McHugh both have vast knowledge and experience in this area. They have helped us compile a short list of resources that will aid pastors in navigating a life of professional ministry.

Keith Farmer has been involved in ministry and ministry training over many years. His background was in commerce and psychology. Keith has been involved in local church ministries in NSW & Victoria and for 24 years was the Principal of what is now known as the Australian College of Ministries – ACoM. Keith is now involved in an itinerant ministry providing mentoring to Christian ministers and leaders across Australia, as well as some preaching and teaching. Keith is passionate about helping Christian leaders to develop in spiritual and personal maturity for ‘who they are’ to sustain ministry and service.

Peter McHugh’s life has regularly been turned upside down when the Lord has sovereignly interrupted him. These encounters have resulted in profound insights around the love of God and the nature of His Kingdom. He shares these revelations in his books and lives them out. He is a sought after speaker, mentor, leader and pastor to pastors. He lives in Melbourne, Australia with his wife Lyn, three children and nine grandchildren.
